Injury is worse than expected, Celtics Jaylen Brown admits possible knee surgery

Recently, the Boston Celtics lost to the New York Knicks in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals, bringing the end of the 2024-25 season. While the Celtics’ main injury was Jason Tatum’s ruptured Achilles tendon, Boston is also dealing with other issues, including knee issues that have plagued Jaylen Brown for most of the season.

Recently, Brown has 100% carefully elaborated on his offseason plan in an attempt to solve this problem.

According to CelticsBlog's Noa Dalzell, he said: "I looked for a lot of doctors to evaluate - see the possibility of surgery and whether to do it, and then communicate with the [Celtics] management." "At the moment, I'm just resting and recovering. I'm withdrawing from a long season. Psychologically, a lot of things are happening."

Celtics executive Brad Stevens also talked about the reasons why he is optimistic about the future prospects of the knee.

"Structurally, his knees were in good condition," Stevens said. "So I think he can work out with peace of mind and hope he will feel better after a few weeks of rest here." The hard ending for the Celtics, Jaylen Brown, defending NBA Finals MVP, obviously did not reach 100% health at the end of the season and during the playoffs. Brown lacks the iconic bounce and explosiveness of his offense, so the opponent's defense doesn't have to put too much attention on him as usual.

Brown scored one of his career best performances in Game 5 against the Knicks, helping the Celtics avoid being eliminated after Tatum was injured. Unfortunately, this good form did not continue until Game 6, with Boston losing streak.

The Celtics are now facing a major offseason, with some significant changes likely to occur within the team, especially if Tatum may miss most or even all of the games next season.

Nevertheless, Brown seems ready to go all out and return at his best next year.
