Rockets season review: 4 players lead with full scores, 3 players pass the game and 1 player loses regret
With the end of the 2024-2025 NBA regular season, the Houston Rockets ranked second in the Western Conference with a record of 52 wins and 30 losses. Although they lost the first round of the playoffs, the performance of the players in the season is still worth reviewing. Four of them performed well, three of them performed well, and one of them failed the fans' expectations.
1. Jaylen Green: Scoring sharp blades, offensive responsibility
Jaylen Green played 82 regular season games this season, averaging 21 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, scoring 30+ in 14 games and 40+ in 1 game. Although the data in the playoffs has declined, the highlight performance of 38 points in a single game confirms its strong scoring explosiveness and is the core firepower point of the team's offensive end.
2. Alperen Shin-kyung: All-Star center, dominating the inside
Shin-kyung started all 76 games in the regular season, averaging 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists, with a shooting percentage of 49.6%, and was successfully selected as the All-Star. He is versatile in the interior, playing back and supporting the team at high positions. Whether it is scoring, rebounding or connecting the team, he shows the strength of a top center and is the Rockets' well-deserved core in the interior.
3. Amen Thompson: Defensive gate, potential star
Amen Thompson has become the team's outside defense pioneer with his outstanding defensive awareness and physical fitness, effectively limiting his opponent's scoring. At the same time, he has outstanding fast break propulsion ability on the offensive end, and his continuous growth performance has made him an important puzzle for the team in the future with unlimited potential.
4. Dillon Brooks: Iron-blooded defense, spiritual leader
Dillon Brooks is the Rockets' external defense core. He has a tough and aggressive defensive attitude, and has a stable three-point shooting ability. He can hit key balls at critical moments. His passion and fighting spirit on the court greatly encouraged the team's morale and was the spiritual pillar of the team.
Three players qualified: each performs its own duties and performs stably
1. Van Vritte: Experienced Commander: As an experienced veteran, Van Vritte averaged 13.5 points and 6.8 assists per game. With his excellent ball-handling and organizational skills, he effectively sorted out the team's offensive rhythm. In many games, he used accurate passes to connect his teammates. Although the scoring data is not gorgeous, his control over the game provides stable guarantees for the Rockets' offensive system.
2, Jabarry Smith: Space Guardians: Jabarry Smith averaged 12.8 points, 6.5 rebounds per game, and a three-point shooting percentage of 36.2%. He actively competes for rebounds on the court, and with his height and wingspan advantages, he interferes with his opponent's shooting on the defensive end; on the offensive end, his stable three-point shooting ability opens up space for the team and creates breakthrough opportunities for the inside, which is an indispensable part of the team's offense and defense.
3. Tari Ethan: The defense is outstanding, and it still needs to be polished: Tari Ethan averages 2.2 steals per game, ranks third in the league, showing strong potential on the defensive end, and active fighting and excellent predictions have put great pressure on the opponent's offense. But on the offensive end, his shortcomings are obvious, with single scoring methods and poor stability, averaging only 7.6 points per game and shooting percentage is only 41.5%. However, considering its contribution on the defensive end, its overall performance is still qualified. If it can improve its offensive ability in the future, it is expected to play a greater role in the team.
One person was disappointed: his performance was inaccurate and he failed to live up to expectations
Shepard: He did not meet expectations and was unable to shoulder the heavy responsibility: Shepard has won many opportunities to play this season, but his performance is far lower than fans' expectations. He averaged only 4.3 points per game, shooting as low as 38%, and three-point shooting percentage was only 30%. Whether it is playing with the ball or running without the ball on the court, it is difficult to provide substantial help to the team. On the defensive end, his footwork and defensive awareness also have obvious shortcomings, and he often becomes the target of his opponent. His mistakes and inefficient performance at critical moments in many games have made the team miss the opportunity and become the most disappointing player this season.
We look forward to the Rockets being able to summarize their experience in the offseason, through targeted adjustments and player self-improvement, we can make breakthroughs in the new season, bringing more surprises to fans.
