The Lakers want to form the Big Three, is this really reliable?

Recently, the Lakers have begun to make an interest again. This time their goal is: health mamba and Andrew Wiggins.

Analysis, there are two reasons why the Lakers are interested in Wiggins: one is to continue to strengthen their wings and improve their combat effectiveness; the other is to make arrangements for the post-James era.

The current situation of the Lakers can be described in a few words: although the lineup is gorgeous, the defense is still worrying.

In fact, with one operation this summer, the Lakers got the coveted inside Ayton, and Smart, who was once the best defensive player. The starting lineup for the new season is expected to be: Doncic, Reeves, James, Hachimura (or Smart), and Ayton. I'm not very worried about the attacking ability of the lineup, but I'm still a little worried on the defensive end. Even though Doncic in the European Championship is very fast and can even block his opponents outside the three-point line, in the NBA arena, which is better in all aspects, Doncic's defense will not be too outstanding. James' age and Hachimura's horizontal movement are both weaknesses. As for Ayton, it remains to be seen and verified. Although Smart was once the best defensive player, his performance after he arrived at the Lakers is still unknown, and the impact of the continuous minor injuries on him in the past is also a variable.

At this time, Wiggins' value is reflected: he is indeed a champion puzzle with both offense and defense.

Wiggins' technical characteristics are extremely in line with the requirements of modern basketball for the forward line. He is 2.01 meters tall and has excellent long arms, and can defend from No. 1 to No. 4. He also locked Doncic and Tatum in the playoffs. Moreover, his mobility is pretty good, which is exactly the wing of the Lakers lacking in anti-scrubbing butt-sweeping type. After flipping through the data, Wiggins has an assist rate of 84.8% and a three-point shooting percentage of 35.6% in his career, which means that he can almost seamlessly connect to the breakout system with Doncic and James as the core.

From the perspective of long-term team plans, Wiggins' age and positioning happen to be another "successor" after James retires. James has executed his contract and the probability of leaving the Lakers or retiring next summer is high. The Lakers must make arrangements for the "post-James era". Wiggins does not have the ball, has efficient play and a low-key personality. He can not only assist James in the current championship, but also take over the "big banner" of the team's wing in the future and assist Doncic.

But all ideas are beautiful. When such rumors come out, you have to look back and see if there are any chips in the Lakers' pockets. Wiggins has many years left in contract with the Heat, and the Lakers need to match their salary, which may mean putting some core rotation players such as Hachimura or Reeves into the trading plan.

After checking, the United States has proposed a variety of transaction plans.

One possibility is a three-party deal: the Lakers get Wiggins, the Heat accept Kuminga, and the Warriors get Jaime Jacques Jr., Hachimura and a Lakers first-round pick. In this way, all three parties have obtained the players they want or have solved some contract problems.

Another option is that the Lakers directly send Vincent, Kneckett, Vanderbilt with the first round pick in 31 years, and get Wiggins from the Heat trade.

In fact, no matter which kind of transaction, the Heat must first nod. Moreover, it seems that the Heat is not very active in seeking transactions, but rather lacking than being too much, rather than using Wiggins for scraps. So if the Lakers show sincerity, they are all gambling. Betting Wiggins can seamlessly integrate into the Lakers' existing roster, accepting his occasional state fluctuations and unstable shooting. In addition, the Lakers also need to weigh the long-term risks of sending out key rotation players and future draft picks. Although Wiggins' performance at the Heat is pretty good, the sample size is small after all, and he only plays 17 games for the Heat.

Looking back, James' career is slowly coming to an end. If Wiggins is successfully and cost-effectively, James' chances of winning the championship may be higher. The Lakers' starting lineup next season will be three No. 1 picks, one Tanhua and a quasi-All-star. This lineup is enough to make the Lakers stand up in the wild West.
