September 13th Argentine veteran Alejandro Gomez recently interviewed the media and talked about his punishment for two years of ban in 2023.

In October 2022, Alejandro Gomez tested positive during his time in Seville. He took cough syrup belonging to his son without the consent of the team doctor and the club. When the verdict was announced in October 2023, Gomez had just signed with Monza and had only played twice in Serie A. During the suspension, he was allowed to train with Reinate in the League C.

Now there is only more than a month left before Alejandro Gomez returns to the field. The 37-year-old said: "I have only been banned from cocaine and marijuana. I was fined two years for drinking my son's cough syrup? Who would have thought this would happen? But well, I swallowed this breath and am working hard to return."

This summer, Gomez signed a two-year contract with Padua, who has just been promoted to Serie B. He tried to revive his career here, although it was not easy to forget the past: "The first few months were difficult, and I didn't understand why I encountered these things at the peak of my career and just won the World Cup. But life sometimes gave you such blows and accidents, which inspired my fighting spirit."

"If I didn't want to retire, it was not the time. Why did two or three suits who had never been in sports decide when I should retire?"

"I was angry at that time. At first I didn't want to watch football games, and I always turned off the TV. I felt that football was dead for me. I closed myself up and started to receive psychological treatment because that vicious cycle prevented me from breaking away."
