In the European qualifiers of the World Cup held early this morning, Austria defeated Cyprus 1-0 at home, and Sabitz scored a penalty. In the second half of the game, the referee found a pit several centimeters deep on the court and stopped the game and asked the stadium workers to fill the pit with sand. The game continued 6 minutes later.

This is not the first time that a similar situation has occurred in Austria at home. In the 2022 Austria's home game against Denmark, there was also a pit on the court.
