Alexander Isaac wears No. 9 at Liverpool: legendary like Torres, or follow in Benteke s footsteps?

Liverpool finally got their dream striker. Alexander Isaac has been officially introduced as Liverpool's new player after he joined from Newcastle. This long transfer saga finally ended in a major agreement.

Isaac's arrival has brought a reputation as one of the most stable strikers in the Premier League. His performance with Newcastle United last season attracted the interest of many top European clubs, but Liverpool successfully won the competition.

His arrival also became a strong signal of Liverpool's ambition under the leadership of Ane Slott. The club is not only rebuilding its roster, but also looking for leaders on the offensive line. The No. 9 jersey attached to Isaac's back now becomes a symbol of this trust.

However, history proves that Liverpool's No. 9 does not always shine. Now, Isaac will be tested: whether he can go on the road to success like Fernando Torres, or repeat Christian Benteke's bitter path.

Anfield's ambition

From the outset, Isaac demonstrated his confidence and determination to succeed in Anfield. The Swedish striker firmly stated that he was ready to contribute to the maximum and quickly adapt to the new system.

"I feel like I have a lot to give, I feel like I still need a lot of improvement. I am a forward, but I always want to give the best for the team, especially the goals, but not just that," Isaac said on the official Liverpool website.

His personal goals are also not vague. He hopes to build Liverpool as a challenger in all competitions. "I want to win everything. Yes, (it's that simple)," he said firmly.

This ambitious goal further increases public expectations. The fans of the Red Army certainly hope that this promise can be achieved in the form of goals and championships.

Torres, the legendary No. 9

Fernando Torres was recorded as one of the best strikers to wear No. 9 jersey at Liverpool. The Spanish player joined from Atletico Madrid for a transfer fee of £20 million in 2007, an amount that broke the club's record at the time.

Torres has performed very well since his first season. He scored 33 goals in all matches, including 24 goals in the Premier League, making his best season with Liverpool. His performance immediately became Anfield's idol.

Overall, Torres made 142 appearances for Liverpool and scored 81 goals. His collaboration with Stephen Gerrard is considered one of the deadliest combinations in English football. However, in January 2011, Torres left Liverpool and joined Chelsea for £50 million.

Despite his departure disappointing fans, Torres' legacy as the world's top No. 9 striker is still remembered today.

Bentec, No. 9, failed to shine

Unlike Torres, Christian Bentec failed to tell a sweet story at Liverpool number 9. The Belgian striker joined the Belgian striker in the summer of 2015 for £32.5 million.

Expectations for Christian Benteke are high. However, his reliance on physical strength and aerial play is difficult to blend with Liverpool's fast game philosophy.

The results were not satisfactory. In his half-season at Anfield, Benteke scored only 10 goals in all games and played 42 games. This is his best and final season for Liverpool.

In 2016, Benteke officially transferred to Crystal Palace for £27 million. His journey at Liverpool proves that not all strikers can bear the heavy pressure of No. 9 at Anfield.
