Amorin: Don t look forward to the luxurious summer window. Not playing in the European war is an advantage

On May 28, Amorin admitted at a pre-match press conference against the ASEAN All-Stars that after a season of four, Manchester United "can't do much" in the summer transfer window to completely transform the team. United have won nothing this season, ranking 15th in the Premier League, their lowest ranking in the top league since relegation in 1974, and the club is also ready to hear offers for any team members.

Cunha is expected to join Manchester United from Wolves for a transfer fee of £62.5 million to increase the team's offensive firepower, and Manchester United has confirmed to introduce Ipswich striker Drapp as the team's starting striker. Both Cunha and Delapp's contracts include termination clauses, totaling £92.5 million, which also affected Manchester United's quick decision. Therefore, the club needs to raise funds by selling players in order to perform other operations in the transfer market.

Amolin was asked about the impact of not being able to participate in the 2025-2026 Champions League. Amorin said: "Without the Champions League, we don't need a huge lineup, we can better control the team. Because of the financial fair competition rules, even with the Champions League, we can't do much this summer. The important thing is that we have to be united. We will have difficulties and things will not get better immediately, but I feel and see the team's progress, which is the most important thing."

Amorin admitted that there may be an "advantage" without European wars. Leicester City won the Premier League in 2016 and Chelsea in 2017, when neither of them competed in Europe and Liverpool almost ended their championship drought in 2014. Newcastle United has qualified for the Champions League without competing in any UEFA matches in recent years, Nottingham Forest has qualified for the European competition for the first time in 30 years after nearly relegated last season. Manchester United's domestic performance in the 2024-2025 season was affected by their priority on the possible glory of the Europa League. The club privately targeted the top six, but Amorin didn't want to reveal the target. "I won't tell you what the goal is right now," Amorin added. "If you want a goal, it's to win the first game and then let's look. I have to say that for us, not playing in the Champions League could be an advantage, to make us perform better, to prepare for the game better, to build the work we need for the future. I think it's a great opportunity to take advantage of the lack of European games."
