Sunderland defeated Sheffield United in the English Championship play-offs, and club legend Henderson appeared in the stands to watch the game. Sunderland executives know Henderson may leave Ajax this summer and think he can add valuable experience to Sunderland's young roster, and Henderson, who will turn 35 next month, is also open to returning to the Light Stadium.
