German media: Boateng will train with Kompany, some Bayern fans launch a petition against it

October 17th Bayern legend Boateng previously revealed that he will be a coaching apprenticeship under Kompany. German media sport1 reported that not all fans are happy with this move. The main reason behind this is that Boateng has been involved in lawsuits due to domestic violence.
Bayern and Boateng maintain a special bond, which is not surprising after all, the two sides have won many titles together, including two Champions League titles in 2013 and 2020. In addition, he was invited to participate in the club's 125th anniversary celebrations in February this year and was allowed to maintain fitness training at Sebena Street as a free agent two years ago.
Now, Boateng revealed through Bild that he has reached an agreement with Kompany and will train under him. "We just have to find the right moment," Boateng explained, something Kompany had hinted at at a press conference.
However, this agreement does contain the potential to cause an uproar, after all, the former Germany international is still criticized by many fans. The reason relates to the past of his personal life, for which he has been tried in court. Legally, the case is settled, but for some fans in the South Stand, questions remain. For them, it is almost impossible for Boateng to be readmitted, and an online petition has been launched against Boateng's return.
SPORT1 chief reporter Stefan Kumberger commented on the podcast "Bayern Week": "We have to distinguish between two situations: whether a player is re-incorporated into the team lineup and whether he is just a trainee. This is different. But Bayern should still remain alert and ready to deal with the rebound."
The reporter also recalled the storm in the autumn of 2023: Boateng almost re-signed with Bayern at that time. At the Allianz Arena, fans unfurled a huge banner that read: "There is no place for bad character in this club." On social media, the criticism was even fiercer.
Stefan Kumberger said: "Bayern, out of its own interests, should ensure that this topic does not become heated again and avoid repeating the mistakes of the past."
Two years ago, the then coach Tuchel was not swayed by the fans' protests: "As a football club, we have the right to make football decisions," although the judicial proceedings against Boateng at that time were only suspended rather than ended.
Tuchel also publicly responded to the fans' criticism: "I can hardly understand this. This is very close to insult, a bit too anonymous and too labeled." However, in the end, the club's senior management shelved the return plan.
In May of this year, Boateng recalled in an exclusive interview with SPORT1: "My private life and the process of the court trial did play a role. This is life. It didn't work out, which is not a big problem, but of course it is a pity. If I can return to my old club, it would be a wonderful thing."
At least to some extent, this return has finally come true, and it is Kompany who promoted this matter. Stefan Kumberger said: "I think the responsibility now lies with the head coach. He and Boateng reached an apprenticeship agreement, so it is up to him to explain to the critics."
