At the recent membership meeting of the Barcelona Football Club on June 18, Chairman Laporta focused on informing the progress of the Camp Nou Stadium renovation project and the club's current positive economic trend.

New Camp Nou: The grand project for the future

Laporta introduces the construction plan of the new stadium in detail. He stressed that the project is not a simple renovation, but a brand new, modern stadium for the 21st century. The initial plan is to provide about 60,000 seats, and the main project target is basically completed by the summer of 2026 (the ceiling part may be delayed). Laporta apologized for the inconvenience caused to members and fans during the construction period and urged everyone to be patient and understand. The

Chairman pointed out that the new stadium is crucial to maintaining club competitive and economic competitiveness and will be the core pillar of future revenue. He revealed that the club is actively preparing and aims to return to the Camp Nou area for home games during the league in September this year to ensure that the league's minimum capacity requirements are met. The Gambel Cup in August (scheduled to be held on August 10) will be the first important test of the new venue facility, although the specific number of visitors to be accommodated remains to be finalized. Laporta calls the project a "valuable wealth that will be bequeathed to future generations."

The economic foundation has been significantly enhanced and the outlook is stable. In terms of finance, Laporta has demonstrated the results of the club's progress from stability to positive development. He particularly emphasized that the club has changed the way in which the value of La Macia’s youth training camp players is no longer considered “zero assets.” World-class stars represented by Yamal, together with top players from different football cultures such as Pedri, De Jong, and Rafinia, have formed the team's extremely high overall market value and provided solid current and future guarantees for the club.

Laporta said that economic recovery began with a firm implementation of strategic plans. Revenues are expected to reach a record 950 million euros for the fiscal year (2023/24 season), while budgets for the next fiscal year will exceed the 1 billion euro mark for the first time. Debt cuts have also achieved results. It is worth noting that even at the temporary home MONTOKE Olympic Stadium, box office revenue this season has increased by 44 million euros against the trend, thanks to the team's outstanding performance (such as reaching the Champions League semi-final) and support from fans.

The business field is also full of good news. The newly signed equipment sponsorship contract with Nike was hailed as "the best in club history" by Laporta, and this quarter alone earned more than 260 million euros. He particularly praised the contribution of Ust, the vice-chairman in charge of the negotiations. In addition, driven by the expansion of commercial cooperation, Barcelona's sales performance has also improved significantly, reaching 107 million euros last season and is expected to jump to between 140 million and 150 million euros this season. The significant improvement in overall economic conditions satisfies management.
