Manchester City s new look for the 2025/26 season

4:38pm, 15 June 2025Football

When we look at Manchester City's three important signings this summer, Reindez, Cherki and Ait Nuri, we can clearly see that this is a very targeted "tactical upgrade" that Guardiola made to the team after an unsuccessful season. Everyone who bought the few people can solve a specific problem for the team last season.

First, the midfielder introduced Reindes. His biggest feature is that he can send straight balls that penetrate the defense line and has a strong ability to pass forward. This makes up for the "deep" strike ability that Manchester City lacked in the midfield after De Bruyne left, and can provide better services to Haaland and others.

Secondly, Cherki in the frontcourt. He is a left-footed player, but he likes to move on the right and then cut in the middle to get the ball and create opportunities. His characteristic can form a good competition and rotation with Foden, and also make Manchester City's offensive routines in the frontcourt richer and more difficult to predict.

Last and most critical is left-back Ait Nuri. His joining marks an important change in Guardiola's tactics. He no longer insists on letting the left back receive the midfield, but reactivates a "traditional" attacking full-back who is good at inserting assists along the wing high speed. In this way, the team's offensive width is completely opened. It can be said that this "combination punch" of signings has made Manchester City more three-dimensional and terrifying in the new season.
