Clippers rumor: Durant becomes a potential target for "hunting" superstars with experience in winning the championship in the offseason

The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly seeking to bring in a well-known player in the upcoming offseason.
Recently, the Los Angeles Clippers ended the season in Game 7 of their away game to the Denver Nuggets. This is another performance of James Harden disappearing in the knockout round. Although he was solid in the series, his efficiency eventually declined as the game progressed, which has been a trend throughout his career.
The Clippers are now facing a major offseason after the 2024-25 season, and despite their performance exceeding most predictions, they ended up failing to win the playoff series for the fourth consecutive year.
Recently, NBA insider, Matt Moore of Hardwood Paroxysm Substack, revealed what the Clippers expect this summer.
"The Clippers are looking for some star players. Some superstars (older), some veterans with experience in winning the championship," Moore reported. "They really think they can hit the championship again, which is largely a scoff at what this season has given out."
At present, the specific goals of the Clippers are not clear, but several big-name players seem to be on the trading market in the offseason, including Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns.
The Clippers usher in an important summer
It seems unlikely that the Clippers will have the assets they need to trade Antetokounmpo. However, Durant may be a more realistic option, as his age, recent injury issues, and the Suns' poor performance during his coaching period have all hit his worth to a certain extent.
Durant's partner with James Harden and Kawhi Leonard will give the Clippers a strong wing trio that makes it difficult for the opponent to compete, although Durant just realized in the Phoenix Suns that the big-name wing trio does not necessarily guarantee success.
Of course, there are many other players in the Clippers that could be their target this summer, and team owner Steve Ballmer is also known for his willingness to invest heavily in trading options and free agents.
By next season, the Clippers are likely to have a new look.
