Former NBA star Arenas was arrested in conspiracy with five other people to illegally operate gambling business

July 31, reported that former NBA star Gilbert Arenas and five other defendants - including a suspected senior member of the Israeli transnational criminal group, were arrested on a federal indictment today. The indictment accused them of operating illegal gambling business in a luxury home owned by Arenas and conducting high-value poker games.
Arenas was charged with one count of conspiring to operate an illegal gambling business, one count of operating an illegal gambling business and one count of making false statements to federal investigators. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in the U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles this afternoon local time and is arraigned.
