Pierce: Tatum s injury accelerates the Celtics decision to demolish team this summer

Former NBA player Paul Pierce recently interviewed reporter Steve Bulpett and talked about the topic of the Celtics making multiple deals this summer.

"They look completely different from this time last year. I'm not sure if that injury from Jason Tatum played a big role in their big change. Because I think they'll still be in the same situation even if Tatum isn't injured. That's the luxury tax and the second tyrant line, whether he's injured or not, I think they have to make these decisions," Pierce said.

This summer, the Celtics made consecutive transactions to send away Christaps Porzingis and Ju Holiday.

"But I also think Tatum's injury makes it easier to make these decisions. For example, if Tatum is healthy and the Celtics win this year. And then you break them up, what will people comment? So, I think this injury makes it easier for the Celtics to decide to break up the team," Pierce said.
