The Spurs signed the former Jazz inside with a training camp contract, but it was not easy for him to stay successfully?

According to reports from OOSSports reporter Rob Murrows, a league source revealed to him that Micah Potter, who is currently in full free agent form, has signed a training camp contract with the San Antonio Spurs with Exhibit 10, and he also has the opportunity to perform well through the next training camp and preseason games and win the opportunity to stay in the team.

Potter was born in April 1998 and is 27 years old, 206cm tall and weighs 112kg. He is the undraft in the 2021 NBA Draft. Porter received a ten-day contract from the Detroit Pistons during his rookie season, but he did not get the chance to stay at the team after the contract expired. Porter has played for the Utah Jazz over the past few seasons, and his playing time has continued to increase as the season progresses. So far, Porter has played 64 games in the NBA regular season, averaging 15.2 minutes per game, averaging 3.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.3 blocks, 0.6 turnovers and 1.1 fouls, shooting percentage of 45.3%, three-point shooting percentage of 34.4%, and free throw shooting percentage of 83.3%.

Porter played 38 games for the Jazz in the NBA regular season last season, averaging 18.6 minutes per game, averaging 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.4 blocks, and 0.8 turnovers and 1.3 fouls. He shot 42.2%, three-point shooting percentage 31.6%, and free throw shooting percentage 85%. In the NBA Development League last season, Porter made a total of 17 appearances, averaging 26.3 minutes per game, with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.9 blocks, 2.1 turnovers and 2.3 fouls, with a shooting percentage of 42.4%, a three-point shooting percentage of 33.7%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 83.3%.

In fact, Porter's prospects for staying in the team are somewhat unclear. Currently, the Spurs' lineup has included 14 players holding standard contracts, and they are all fully guaranteed contracts, which means that Porter is competing for the last standard contract quota, and the Spurs may not use full quota at the beginning of the regular season. On the other hand, Porter has been in the NBA for four seasons and he is no longer qualified to continue signing a two-way contract. In other words, if Porter wants to stay in the team, he must sign a standard contract. Considering Porter's performance in the previous seasons, his personal ability does not seem so good, and his role in both offense and defense seems to be relatively limited. Especially on the offensive end, his role is seriously insufficient. I don’t know if Porter can play his worth and get the opportunity to stay in the team next time.
