Chelsea youth training left-back Ish Samuels Smith is expected to transfer to related club Strasbourg. It is reported that the two sides are in-depth negotiations on a permanent transfer.
The 19-year-old England star joined the Blues youth training from Everton last summer for £4 million. After joining, he performed stably and outstandingly in Chelsea U21 echelon (Premier League 2).
Although he has been on the first team roster many times in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, Samuels Smith has not yet made his senior team debut. He urgently needs stable high-level game opportunities, leaving Chelsea may be the best choice.
French "League" reported that Samuels Smith appeared at the Strasbourg training ground on Wednesday. Chelsea is considering selling it permanently to the Ligue 1 club for about £5 million, and the players are also involved in negotiations.
It is worth noting that Samuels Smith renewed his contract with Chelsea until 2031 in April this year. The BlueCo consortium spent 75 million euros to acquire Strasbourg in 2023.
The two clubs cooperate closely: central defender Mamadu Sal just joined Chelsea from Strasbourg; goalkeeper Petrovic is expected to cash out after loaning Strasbourg last season. Penders, Amugu and Paes may also join on loan this summer. However, the rules limit the number of loans to a single team shall not exceed three. Previously, Angelo was resold to Riyadh to win the profit after loaning Strasbourg.
