Despite being injured for four weeks, Croatia still recruits Stanisic to the national team roster

Hupu September 23rd News When nominating the Croatian national team for the upcoming international matches against the Czech Republic (October 9) and Gibraltar (October 12), a surprising name appeared on the official list of the Croatian Football Association: Bayern Munich star Josep Stanisic.

Surprisingly, Stanisic is currently injured and is expected to be out for up to four weeks! He was injured in a 3-1 Champions League victory over Chelsea. After receiving treatment, he was replaced in the 51st minute. At first, the situation didn't sound serious, but last Thursday's MRI scan showed a partial tear of the right medial ligament!

The team initially expected two to three weeks off the season, but later it was discovered that four weeks off the season were more likely. Head coach Vincent Kompani said when asked about the initial two-week offseason, "The information I have is different. It may be longer. But it won't be too long to avoid him missing too many games."

Kompani hopes Stanisic can recover after the international match day: "I hope this time is enough to get him back to the field."

Why is Croatia nominated him now? Croatia's first international match will be held almost three full weeks after the diagnosis. However, this team was initially just a temporary roster. In addition, there are several players on the waitlist in case regular players can’t play. According to Biography, Bayern Munich will work with Stanisic and the medical department to decide whether he is possible and suitable for the roster. The final decision is in the hands of Bayern Munich, and the final list will be announced next week.

If Croatia really intends to use Stanisic, that would be a considerable risk—a risk that Bayern Munich may not want to see.
