May 3 According to the Guardian, the British government will add amendments to the relevant bills, thus expressly prohibiting the English Football League from being held overseas.
The Liverpool chairman has previously expressed that he hopes that some Premier League games can be held overseas in the future, such as New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Riyadh and Rio de Janeiro; La Liga and Serie A all hope that some games can be held overseas next season.
But most local fans do not want to see this, and they are worried that this move will break tradition and increase player fatigue and inconvenience for local fans to watch the game.
The current relevant bill stipulates that if the English Football League wants to hold competitions overseas, it needs to obtain permission from regulatory authorities. But some British MPs are worried that such a bill is not strong enough, so they hope to add clauses or amend them.
According to the Guardian, the British government supports amending the bill. The revised plan will explicitly prohibit the English Football League from being held overseas, making it more powerful and there is no room for negotiation.
