Ruben Amorin looked frustrated in a Premier League match.
Manchester United has reportedly decided to "turn to" new forward targets, but the potential deal depends on a "key" factor.
So far this summer, Manchester United have signed only one player who spent about £62.5 million to sign Mattus Cunia from Wolves.
Due to the lack of strength in the forward position last season, the Red Devils will make the offense completely transforming as their top priority at the beginning of this summer.
Cunha's joining is a good start, but Ruben Amorin's team still has a lot to do this summer as they target Brian Mbemo and a new striker.
Earlier this summer, Manchester United set Liam Drapp as their main striker target. However, they missed the former Manchester City star, who decided to join Premier League powerhouse Chelsea after winning the Champions League qualification next season.
This led the Red Devils to start looking for alternatives in the market, with Victor Giokelez, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitic being considered potential targets.
Aston Villa striker Oli Watkins is another option, with his estimation on transfermarkt at £34.5 million, and according to Football Insider's Pete O 'Rourke, they have "turned their attention" to the England international.
Watkins has become one of the best strikers in the Premier League, scoring 31 goals in 54 matches in the 2024/25 season.
Nevertheless, recent reports suggest that Villa are willing to let Watkins leave this summer as they hope to avoid violating the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
However, this transfer is far from being confirmed. Because the deal depends on a "key" factor: Rasmus Hoylund's future needs to be resolved before Manchester United signs Watkins.
O'Rourke told Football Insider: "If Manchester United are looking for a good center to strengthen the roster, then Oly Watkins will be the best person."
" Rasmus Hollend... depends heavily on his situation, as Manchester United may not be able to afford to buy Watkins outside of Mbuemo and Cunha.
They may need to sell several players to get the wiggle leeway needed, plus FFP and PSR to sign Watkins. I think once they accept Hoylund's offer, they will turn to sign Watkins.
Hoylund's form has plummeted over the past year, and it is generally believed that he is likely to return to Serie A, but there are also people who think they may trade Joshua Zilkize for transfer fees.
