TA: Liverpool believe Konate’s injury is minor and hope he can play against Manchester United in time

Hupu reported on October 11 that Liverpool center back Konate had withdrawn from the French team's squad due to a thigh injury. TA followed up with a report saying that Liverpool are convinced that the defender's injury is only a minor injury.

The 26-year-old failed to feature in France's 3-0 World Cup qualifying win over Azerbaijan on Friday and has been on the bench. Previously, in Liverpool's 2-1 loss to Chelsea on October 4, he was forced to leave due to the same injury.

The French national team has confirmed the news of Konate's withdrawal and said: "Konate injured his right quadriceps in the last game he played for Liverpool. He has received treatment and followed a rehabilitation program since returning to the team on Monday. However, he was unable to participate in the game against Iceland."

Liverpool is convinced that the defender's injury is only a minor injury. The France international will return to Merseyside for further assessment and treatment, with the defending Premier League champions hoping he will be ready for Manchester United's away game at Anfield on October 19.

If Konate misses next weekend's game, captain Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez will be Liverpool's only two healthy center back options.
