Hupu, November 6th, multiple British media released a press release stating that Chelsea’s senior management not only supports Enzo Maresca’s rotation of the lineup, but also encourages him to do so. This is part of Chelsea’s overall strategy this season.
So far this season, the Chelsea coach has made 85 rotations, 16 times more than Liverpool. Premier League leaders Arsenal have the third-highest number of rotations, with 67.
Maresca has made seven or more changes to the starting lineup in five consecutive games, including Chelsea's 2-2 away draw with Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Some of Maresca's rotation has been forced as Chelsea have received five red cards since September, while injuries to Liam Delap (groin) and Cole Palmer (hamstring) have also led to rotations.
Winning the Club World Cup will undoubtedly be of great benefit to Chelsea's football level and economic strength, but it also means that Chelsea may have to play more than 65 games this season, so the health and well-being of the players is also one of Maresca's priorities.
Some people compare him to former Chelsea coach Claudio Ranieri, who is known as a "tinkerer", but people familiar with Chelsea's tactics believe that this comparison is unfair.
Chelsea's rotation is not mandatory, but part of the team's operating model.
Chelsea’s boss and sporting director agree that rotation is an effective way to develop the team and ensure adequate personnel reserves in the long season. The Blues hope to achieve good results on all fronts.
Chelsea firmly supports Maresca and his employment strategy, and believes that with the trials of different player combinations and the growth of young players, the stability pursued by the head coach will eventually be achieved.
It is believed that Maresca's rotation strategy will pay off at the critical stage at the end of the season.
