Lakers team reporter: Russell may go to the Magic or may continue to stay on the basketball team with a short appointment

The Athletic's Los Angeles Lakers reporter Jovan Buha recently conducted a live broadcast, and he also answered questions from netizens during the live broadcast, in which he also talked about the situation about former Lakers player Tangilo Russell.

Buha said: I think Russell may have gone to Orlando Magic this summer. But I wouldn't be surprised if he returned to the Nets with a short-term contract, because the Nets seem to have always had a strong liking for him. After all, this is his second time playing for the Nets. Just from the fact that they brought him back to the team through the previous transaction, it can be seen that there is a certain tacit friendship between the two sides. So if he is willing to sign a contract similar to one year, or a two-year contract with 1+1 option, staying at the Nets, I wouldn't be surprised. But I think there is a high possibility for magic. But I don't think he can play the role of starting guard on the team if he joins the Magic. Unless he is willing to accept the role of a rotation player, if he can successfully accept that, then the magic is indeed a reasonable choice.

After joining the Nets this season, Russell made a total of 29 appearances in the NBA regular season, averaging 24.7 minutes per game, averaging 12.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.7 blocks, 2 turnovers and 2.1 fouls, shooting percentage of 36.7%, three-point shooting percentage of 29.7%, and free throw shooting percentage of 82.6%. After joining the Nets, Russell's performance was actually very disappointing. His offensive efficiency was a mess, his scoring ability was not ideal, his stability outside the three-point line was even more terrible, and his investment in the defensive end was relatively limited. I thought Russell could produce impressive data without restrictions after joining the Nets, but he did not do this, which also largely led to a decline in his value in the free market.

Russell's performance this season is indeed unsatisfactory, and it is because the results are not ideal that he was given up by the Lakers and sent to the Nets. However, his performance at the Nets is so disappointing, and I believe that the playoff-level teams are unlikely to consider signing him unless he is willing to accept a very low price. The Magic does require backcourt players with scoring and organizing abilities, but Russell's performance with the Lakers and the Nets may also make them a little worried. In contrast, the Nets signed Russell back and hoped that he could play the role of a mentor to give young players some guidance and advice. Returning to the Nets is also an ideal choice.
