On July 4, according to the US media KGW News, former NBA player Ben McLemore was officially convicted of sexual assault, and was convicted of first-degree rape and first-degree illegal sexual assault, and faces 8 years in prison. Ben McLemore's sexual assault case was reportedly opened in Portland on Friday morning, and a jury found him guilty of rape and sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman at a family party in Lake Oswego in October 2021.
32-year-old McLemore had previously pleaded not guilty to first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual assault and two counts of second-degree sexual assault, but the jury finally found him guilty of three counts (including first-degree rape) and only one second-degree sexual assault charge was not passed. The sexual assault case of McCollermore occurred at the home of teammate Robert Covington at the time. During the trial, the woman testified that she had lost her ability to behave after drinking heavily and could not agree; McCollermore admitted that she also drank alcohol, saying that the sexual act was voluntary and that the two parties had no prior or post-event communication. His lawyer argued that McCollermore should be acquitted.
Prosecutor Scott Healy pronounced a sentence, and all links of evidence showed that the defendant committed the crime while the victim was drunk and lost consciousness, and finally found McLemore's first-degree rape and illegal sexual assault.
McLemore faces eight years in prison and his verdict hearing is scheduled to be held on July 10.

McLemore played for the Trail Blazers for one season in 2021-2022, and since then he left the NBA to play professional games in Europe, China and Türkiye.
McLemore was the No. 7 pick in the first round of 2013. He played for the Kings, Grizzlies, Rockets, Grizzlies and Trail Blazers in his NBA career. He has played in a total of 556 regular season games, averaging 9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1 assist in 22.5 minutes per game. He has played for the Rockets and Lakers, playing in a total of 15 games, averaging 3.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.
