Klopp criticized the new version of the Club World Cup: This is the worst idea in football history

Former Liverpool meritorious coach Jurgen Klopp has been fully fired recently, pointing to the upcoming new FIFA Club World Cup. In an exclusive interview with German Le Monde, the passionate German coach ruthlessly criticized that this four-year expansion of the 32 team is "the worst idea in football history" and will put a heavy burden on players' already overloaded schedule. The new version of the Club World Cup is scheduled to be held during the break of the Summer International Competition, which coincides with the club's pre-season preparation stage. In response, Klopp said fiercely: "This is a completely meaningless event! No matter who wins the cup in the end, they will become the 'worst champion' in history. They are exhausted all summer and then immediately have to dive into the new season's league. Those who make plans probably have never really understood the hardships of football's daily operation."
Klopp emphasized the huge risks facing players' health. "There are too many games," he warned worriedly. "I am worried that we will witness an unprecedented wave of injuries next season. Even if it is not next season, injuries are very likely to break out during or after the (new version of the World Cup). For players participating, they will not get real breathing and recovery, both physically and mentally."
Since the end of their brilliant nine-year coaching career at Liverpool in 2024, Klopp is currently the global football director of Red Bull Group, which owns many clubs such as Red Bull Leipzig and Red Bull in New York. When asked if it is possible to return to the coaching bench in the future, Klopp gave a clear answer. "I don't want to coach anymore," he said. "The job now makes me very fulfilled, and of course it's not small. But I can better arrange my work rhythm and no longer have to stay up late and get up early like before."
