Liverpool bought Wilz at a record price. What is the ultimate goal of Slott?

In order to cooperate with the 2025 Club World Cup, several mainstream European leagues have opened temporary transfer windows. During this window, Liverpool, the champion team of the Premier League last season, finalized a big deal: introducing Wiltz from the Bundesliga.

Liverpool has officially released this news, and judging from the current release, Wiltz is very likely to set a new record in Premier League transfer history: the highest value. In this transfer contract finalized with Leverkusen, Liverpool paid a starting amount of £100 million, and another £16.5 million was written into the contract as an additional agreement.

If all the conditions required in the final contract can be realized, Wiltz's transfer fee will be as high as 137 million euros, far exceeding the 121 million euros spent by Chelsea to introduce Enzo in 2023, and also exceeding the fees paid by Chelsea for Kessedo, becoming the most expensive signing in the Premier League so far. Liverpool spent 85 million euros to buy Nunes from Benfica in 2023, after just two years, it increased the most expensive record in team history by 50 million euros.

Fans who don't pay much attention to the Bundesliga may have questions about Liverpool's operation? How powerful is Wilz to make the team place a heavy bet? Born in 2003, Wiltz just turned 22 years old, his adult team's appearance records were all achieved in Leverkusen. To compare the U23 players’ value, there are three people who can go hand in hand with him: Barcelona’s Yamal, Arsenal’s Saka, and Real Madrid’s Bellingham.

If you want to dig through Wiltz's data in the Bundesliga, you can also see that his current super high value and super high transfer fee have a certain basis. Wilz's total number of goals and assists in 140 Bundesliga games for Leverkusen was 82. This data ranks fifth in the comparison of all Bundesliga players in the past four seasons. But if you compare players with better statistics than him, you will find that they are almost all the roles of the forwards in the front. Wiltz plays an offensive midfielder in Leverkusen. In other words, players in this position can still find Sane of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga who can find close to his data. But if you make another comparison, Sane has converted 0.6 goals per 90 minutes for Bayern in the past four years, while Wiltz has converted 0.77 goals per 90 minutes. If this data is not intuitive enough, you can find Bayern's Mussiara's. In his game for Bayern, he scored 61 goals and 39 assists in 203 games. This data is quite impressive in Bayern's performance, but if Mussiara is converted to 0.74 goals per 90 minutes, it is still slightly lower than Werz.

Wilz has entered the vision of top clubs in the world. In addition to Liverpool, Manchester City and Bayern are all teams that they hope to sign with. In the process of chasing Wilz, Liverpool did not have an advantage at first, but with a signal released by Wilz in May: he personally prefers to join Liverpool, putting the deal into the fast lane. Liverpool rose from its initial £100 million offer to £114 million. Leverkusen's total asking price is close to £126 million, but with Liverpool's continued negotiations, both sides may basically be set at the £116 million.

Wilz's annual salary at Liverpool also surfaced in this negotiation. His basic annual salary is 12 million euros. If both the performance set by individuals and the team's performance goals can be achieved, his annual salary can reach up to 15 million euros. In an interview in May, Wilz made it clear that he was not a money-driven player: "When I moved from Cologne (2020), I didn't think about my salary, but only what was best for my career." Wilz obviously had a clearer plan for his career, and he also said in this interview: "I don't even care how much money I have in my account, or how much money I can make in the future. For me, planning is more decisive than money." Why did Slot invest hugely in this summer window?

's inheritance left by Klopp was a very high starting point for Slot, who was unknown in Eredivisie. But his first season in the Premier League was undoubtedly a success. The key to his winning of the Premier League last season was to maintain and innovate Liverpool's original 433 high-level pressure and the urgency of the whole game.

Slott made fine adjustments to the formation and became 4231. The double back midfielder and front midfielder position made Liverpool's offense and defense more balanced. Although there are top scorers like Salah in the team, they can also shoot in the offensive third zone at the front midfielder. Liverpool currently lacks a No. 10 position in the strict sense. Sobosloy also played well in this position, but Liverpool wanted to make greater achievements in the Premier League and the Champions League. The addition of Wiltz can provide a richer choice for the team in the organization and offense of the midfield and frontcourt.

Perhaps Liverpool fans don't have to wait too long. In the preseason in July, this player who joined the team with the Bundesliga light can appear on the court in the Liverpool jersey.
