TA: Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto returns to Brazilian league, joining Bottafogo without a sign

Hupu August 5th News TheAthleticUK ace reporter David Ornstein's latest report, Bottafogo has reached an agreement with Bournemouth to sign Brazilian goalkeeper Neto.
The 36-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper plans to fly to Rio de Janeiro on Monday night to complete the transfer after undergoing a medical examination.
The transfer does not require transfer fees, but as one of Bournemouth's highest-paid players, the Premier League club will save a lot of salary. Neto's contract was originally scheduled to expire in June next year. He will renew his contract with Botafogo until the summer of 2027 and has the option to extend it for six months.
Botafogo is currently ranked seventh in the Brazilian top league.
The former Fiorentine and Valencia goalkeeper joins Bournemouth from Barcelona in the summer of 2022. He maintained 13 clean sheets in 63 games and left the club.
In the 2023-24 season, Neto made 32 appearances in the Premier League, and another season before, he made 27 appearances.
The former Brazil international was loaned to Arsenal in the 2024-25 season, where he only made one appearance.
In July this year, Bournemouth completed the transfer to sign goalkeeper Joelger Petrovic from Chelsea. The 25-year-old signed a five-year contract.
