German media: Munich intends to bid to host the 2028 Champions League final, but formal documents must still be submitted before June next year

October 31 News UEFA recently confirmed Munich’s Bayern Allianz Arena’s intention to bid to host the 2028 Champions League final. The German News Agency learned that Bayern’s expression of intention is still non-binding and they must submit formal bid documents before June next year.
After hosting the Champions League final in 2025, Munich now intends to bid to host the 2028 Champions League final. According to UEFA, Bayern's Allianz Arena is the only intended applicant for the 2028 Champions League final venue.
However, this statement of intent is not binding, and Munich must submit formal application documents and final plans before June 2026. In September 2026, the UEFA Executive Committee will decide the venue of the competition, as well as the final locations of other men's and women's European competitions.
In addition to the 2025 Champions League final being held in Munich, Bayern's Allianz Arena also hosted the 2012 Champions League final. Prior to this, Munich's Olympic Stadium had hosted the event three times.
