Manchester United s Guide to Signings: Top 10 "Contract Year" Potential Goals

11:33am, 29 June 2025Football

"Red Devils" Manchester United is expected to be very busy in the transfer window this summer.

Manchester United have been making frequent moves in the transfer market this summer. They hope to provide coach Ruben Amorin with enough "ammunition" to successfully complete the team's reconstruction work in his first full season as coach.

Mattus Cunha has joined Wolves for £62.5 million, and the latter's transfer is close to completion after Manchester United gave Brentford star Brian Mbemo a second offer.

This pair will fill the gap in Manchester United's front midfielder position next season. But beyond that, the team may still be looking for a new center, center forward, wingback and goalkeeper in the market this summer.

With this in mind, we have here to take stock of 10 players whose contracts will expire in 2026 (i.e. entering the contract year). United may be able to seek to sign them this summer to address the team's signing priorities.

Bryan Mbeumo

Mbeumo's contract with Brentford will expire next summer. As mentioned earlier, Manchester United is desperate to finalize his signature this summer. Manchester United gave the Cameroon international a new offer totaling more than £60 million after a £55 million offer was rejected earlier this month. The 25-year-old scored 20 Premier League goals for the Bees last season, and his arrival will greatly enhance Manchester United's slightly slow attack line.

Frenki DeJong

For many years, there seems to be no summer when Manchester United has not been rumored to have an affair with the Barcelona midfielder. Former coach Eric Tenhach had been desperate to reunite with the former Ajax love player, but these rumors have cooled down with Amorin's arrival. Despite this, the two-time La Liga champion will still be an excellent addition to Manchester United today, and his trend this summer is worth paying attention to.

Duchamp Frahovic

Manchester United need a striker, and Frahovic is rumored to be signed because he failed to agree with Juventus on a new contract. The Serbian international scored 16 goals in various competitions last season, only one goal less than the combined goals of the team's centers Hoylen and Zilkize. At the age of 25, he is in his year of playing, and his joining will immediately improve Manchester United's current forward strength.

Joen Visa

Like Mbeoumo, Visa also scored a lot of goals for Brentford last season and attracted the interest of other Premier League teams. The Democratic Republic of Congo international scored 20 goals in various competitions and was competent at any position on the front line. At the age of 28, he may be entering his peak period.

Rodrigo Bentankur

Bentankur has not reached a contract renewal with Tottenham, and he can provide the team with the Premier League proven strength. The 28-year-old is a teammate of Manchester United midfielder Ugat in the Uruguay national team and is a "trophy harvester". He not only helped Tottenham beat Manchester United to win the Europa League last season, but also won seven and three major trophies with Juventus and Boca youth respectively.

Mike Menion

Mike Menion

Mike Menion has proven himself to be one of the top goalkeepers in Europe, whether in AC Milan or the French national team. At the age of 29, he is still young for the goalkeeper position and has attracted Chelsea's interest this summer. Few people would deny that he would be an upgrade for Andre Onana.

Ruben Neves

Manchester United had been associated with Neves frequently when he was still playing for Wolves, but he eventually moved to Saudi giant Riyadh Crescent. The 28-year-old Portugal international midfielder is currently entering the final year of his three-year contract with the club. The opportunity to return to the top European league may tempt him.

Julian Brandt

Brent spent his entire career in Germany, playing for Leverkusen and Dortmund, but his strength should be able to adapt well to the Premier League. The 29-year-old German international is competent in any position in the midfield and has not yet signed a new contract at the Iduna Signal Park Stadium.

Ola Einer

Einer was one of the important reasons why Nottingham Forest was able to challenge the upper level of the Premier League last season. He was the kind of wingback who could shine in the Amorin system. The 28-year-old Nigerian international recently triggered a contract renewal clause that will stay at the city stadium until the end of next season, but has not signed any longer-term contracts.

Qunten Timber

As the twin brother of Arsenal defender Yurien, Quinten Timber is a fighting midfielder who has been impressive in both Feyenoord and the Dutch national team. Liverpool coach Arne Slott once praised the 24-year-old's ability, who may prove to be a shrewd signing from Manchester United midfielder.
