Ronaldo once suggested introducing it. Does Manchester United regret missing Louis Enrique?

With Paris Saint-Germain's historic first Champions League title in the 2024/25 season, coach Luis Enrique's coaching ability has once again been widely recognized. This also aroused people's regrets and reflections on Manchester United's failure to introduce this famous Spanish coach back then.

As early as 2022, Enrique was one of the popular candidates to take over Manchester United's coaching position. Before him, Manchester United finally chose Eric Tenhager, but now it seems that the choice is not ideal.

According to the Manchester Evening News, before Tenhager officially took office, Manchester United executives had contacted and interviewed Enrique many times and left a very deep impression on him.

Not only that, in the summer of 2023, after Enrique finished his position as head coach of the Spanish national team, Manchester United still intends to invite him to Old Trafford. In the end, however, the club management decided to continue to trust Tenhager until the latter was fired at the end of 2024.

Former Manchester United legend Paul Scholes commented on TNT Sports: "Manchester United has not tried hard to win Enrique in the past five years, which is a huge mistake. We have seen how he has completely changed Paris Saint-Germain in just two years. On the other hand, Manchester United stubbornly insisted on using Tenhager and even appointed Amorin now, which was disappointing."

What is even more sad is that as early as 2022, Ronaldo, who was still playing for Manchester United, also suggested that the club hire Enrique, but this suggestion did not attract the attention of the management and ended up in silence.

In fact, Manchester United is not the only club in the Premier League that has ever had the chance to sign Enrique. According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea rejected his application twice in the early stages of Enrique's coaching career, although he specially prepared a detailed coaching plan for this; Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also shortlisted him, but eventually chose other coaches.

Now, with Enrique leading Paris Saint-Germain to the top of Europe, perhaps many Premier League clubs will wonder: Did you miss a world-class coach who can really change the fate of the team?
