Salah: The first thing I learned in the Premier League is that I need to be stronger to adapt to the confrontation

May 14th According to Liverpool's official website, Salah talked about his situation when he just came to the Premier League in an interview.

Now, Salah has won the Premier League twice and led Liverpool to win the championship again in the 2024-25 season with 28 goals and 18 assists. He has broken multiple records since joining Anfield eight years ago. However, success is not achieved overnight. Salah recalls the first time he experienced English football after joining Chelsea in January 2014.

Speaking of this, Salah said: "I remember my first game was against Newcastle, I was on the wing and suddenly felt a 'bang' (a fierce tackle) and I was like, 'Oh, how can I survive here?' So the first thing I learned was that I needed to be stronger, I needed to go to the gym more, I needed to recover and adapt to the game."

Then, Salah left the Premier League and played for Serie A Fiorentina and Roma, in order to regain confidence and lay the foundation for his new heights at Liverpool.

Speaking about this experience, Salah said: "I still think it's the most important time in my life, when I went to Chelsea, because when I started struggling there, I was thinking, 'Okay, what now? Do you want to be a normal player or a very good player?' It's a key point, I started reading a lot and watching a lot of videos on YouTube, helping me change my behavior, my mindset and everything."

It turns out that it works very well. So far, Salah has scored 244 goals for the Reds in various competitions, of which 183 were scored in the Premier League. This number exceeds any other player in club history. In addition to two top league championship trophys, he also won the Premier League Golden Boot Award three times and the best assist award. And, he is expected to win both awards again later this month. In addition, Salah is only three goals away from fourth place in the scorer list since the founding of the Premier League in 1992.
